The Cleveland Browns have announced that they have released QB Johnny Manziel. Most expected this to happen with all the off the field issues that have plagued the young QB. Manziel is currently waiting on authorities in Texas to decide if they will pursue him for charges of domestic violence. The latest incident has really detered a lot of teams from pursuing him for a roster spot. Before the last incident it was rumored that he could end up in Dallas but that quickly faded away once the news of this latest incident became public.
So the question now is will a team take a chance on the QB. Right now that is not looking very promising. The incident in Texas is still not resolved so the longer it lingers the less interest teams will show. Even if it gets resolved some still are not convinced that Manziel has the skills be be a starting QB in the NFL.
His stats for the times he has played in Cleveland have not be eye opening. Last season he completed 57% of his passes for 1500 yards, 7 touchdowns and 5 interceptions in 9 games. With stats like that Cleveland was his best chance at starting for a team. But they have moved on so is there another team that thinks they can get something out of the young QB. It might just be to much work. Beside having to improve his on the field behavior they would have to work on improving his off the field behavior and that is what is hurting him the most.
